Puma x Staple Pigeon, are back for round two with their newest collaboration of the classic Puma Suede, and the Puma BOG. In this iconic collaboration, we see three Puma Suede’s dressed in neutral tones with a surprise pop of colour which feature the signature Staple pigeon motif. For the BOG admirers we see the shoe come to life in an “OG” colour way consisting of grey, white, and the classic pigeon pink.

To increase the anticipation just a little more, Staple & Puma have tactically released the suedes location specific globally, that is the “Star White” Puma Suede Pigeon available in both North and South America, the “Frost Grey” Puma Suede Pigeon in Europe & the Middle East, and the “Pure Black” Puma Suede Pigeon will be available in Asia Pacific regions. As for the BOG, this will be a worldwide release but it’s safe to say they wont be easy to get your hands on!

From the studio, to the runway – is there anything Rihanna can’t do? Her provocative style and fearless persona have created a culture of their own, that you can’t help but admire.

Following the startling success of the Fenty Creeper & Fur slide- Rihanna has confirmed we haven’t seen the last of her or her relationship with PUMA.

One would say the collection is Vetements meets Offwhite. Featuring flared sleeves, cropped hems, lace & fur – her collection channels Goth, erotica, Japanese street-style & Rihanna as we know her in the best form. Each garment from the collection embodies risqué behaviour & that fierce bad-girl RiRi façade of hers. Donned by influential icons such as Naomi Campbell & Kendall Jenner, there is no doubt that the labelled: “athleisure” line will send the fashion world into a frenzy.

Her collaboration collection with Puma is set to hit the Australian shores early September exclusive to Subtype Store.

2016 has been a successful year for Adidas so far to say the least, and to thank their fans they’ve hit us with four | ALERT! SUBTYPE SURPRISE | FIVE new NMD’s for the month of August.

PUMA X CAREAUX LAUNCH PARTY

 

Thank you to everyone who attended the global launch of the exciting new collaboration between PUMA X CAREAUX !On Thursday 28th July, SUBTYPE store was transformed into CAREAUX land with every corner of the store adorned with Careaux’s rose print. 3D installations and gold platforms held the limited edition colab sneakers that featured the puma silhouettes, BOG, Duplex and Suedes. An epic sneaker wall of the beige, pink and floral toned sneakers lit up the walls under the four limited edition Careaux illustrated canvases made exclusively for the lucky guests of the night. Careaux and Puma also worked together to release an apparel range of tees and jackets in black and pink floral colour ways, the highlight piece of course being the reversible satin bombers in pink satin and black satin. The night provided guests with the opportunity to exclusively shop the collection a week before the global launch. The Puma x Careaux bomber jackets were so good that many people unable to choose between the two colours and happily took home both!

 

The night was a party of everything a sneaker head could want, of course sneakers but also music, complimentary fried chicken curtesy of @buttersydney and delicious rose shaped ice creams curtesy of @icreamygelato, refreshments thanks to @Jameson_au, @h2coco, @absolut_au, @caprisparkling, @singhai. There was a Q & A between Puma and Careaux about her personal journey as a creative and her experience in collaborating with PUMA.

Filling Pieces X Puma Collaboration

Remember the movie Karate Kid? The cult hit with a story about the wise old Karate master and the new kid on the block? Well this story just happened in the sneaker world. Sneaker heritage brand Puma teams up with new school sneaker brand Filling Pieces Amsterdamn to merge the two worlds of OG and new and bring us the best of two worlds. When two brands collaborate they generally team up for mutual benefit – exposure to new audiences, a new aesthetic or a new product. Is it weird for two footwear brands to team up? Well the results are in and we like it! The Sensei and student combo is releasing the new hybrid colab sneaker combining all our favourite elements from both brands.

The first silhouette to emerge from the new colab relationship shows PUMA’s athletic heritage combined with the luxe materials we associate with FP. The upper has a Blaze of Glory like silhouette, with a R698 sole and Filling pieces style wide elastic strap and iconic Filling Pieces exaggerated tongue. What do you think? We never saw this colab coming but were big fans.

WHEN FASHION & FUNCTIONALITY COLLIDE

The days in which athletic shoe wear was not to be worn unless actually engaging in some sort of sporting activity have come to a halt- and who better to thank then, Nike.

They’ve brought us our favourite sneaker silhouettes since 1972, and over the weekend- they’ve just released another: The Nike Zoom Mercurial Flyknit XI FK. The anticipation for the shoe’s release is finally over, and those fresh zoom spiridon soles have just hit Subtype store’s shelves.

Utilizing the design from its Zoom spiridon sole, this release of the shoe has been constructed with a full flyknit upper and premium leather detailing on the heel. Sporting two colour ways, Subtype store was privileged to receive both.

Slip into the all new Superstar Slip-On

Back in 1986, Run DMC released the song ‘My Adidas’ – stating their preference for the three stripes and more specifically, the Adidas Superstar. As a result, the Superstar experienced a colossal surge in sales that eventually led to a historic partnership between the two parties, and one that’s led to Run DMC having their own iterations of the sneaker and Adidas apparel. Indeed, with their heavy chains, leather jackets and crisp Superstars on feet, Run DMC crafted one of hip-hop’s early iconic outfits – one that’s timeless and undeniably New York.Adidas-superstar-slip-on-black

Notably, Run DMC always rocked their Superstars without laces. The look was emulated by fans across the globe, and now, the latest version of the Superstar takes the laceless ethos even further. The Superstar Slip-On is self-explanatory: There’s no need to lace or even tie your sneakers. It’s comprised of a plush neoprene upper that secures your foot with two elastic straps that act as seat belts for your feet. GOSHA RUBCHINSKIY RESURRECTS ITALIAN SPORTSWEAR & JUNKIE LABELS IN ITS SS17 SHOWING

It’s no secret that all of your favourite derelict sportswear brands and junkie labels have been undergoing a huge resurgence over the past few seasons, making it fashionable once more to dress like a crooked Eastern European soccer coach circa 1987. One only has to look at the much-hyped collaborations between Palace & Adidas for a stern lesson in the on-trend aesthetic: The collections are filled with bold colourblocking and strong logos printed on full tracksuits and waterproof garments made to brave the European winter. And remember, the more 3M, the better! Whether or not these items are worn ‘ironically’ by hipsters at Plan B Small Club doesn’t deter from the fact that European sportswear is very much in, and that was shown once again in Gosha Rubchinskiy’s SS17 showing.

Gosha’s guerilla approach to fashion and unapologetic fusion of low and high end.

Fila, Kappa and Sergio Tacchini are three brands that have largely been seen in Australia on petty thieves, drug dealers and members from the ‘Fat Pizza’ cast. Now, Gosha has collaborated with all three labels in a resurrection that can only be compared to that of Jesus Christ himself. While Fila has enjoyed Black Label collections for its more tasteful throwback items, for the most part these brands have been regulated to discount bins and factory outlets – which is probably why they align perfectly with Gosha’s guerilla approach to fashion and unapologetic fusion of low and high end.

In the SS17 showing we see the Italian sportswear houses with their logos reprinted along with Gosha’s signature Russian text, creating an international collaboration that isn’t the most imaginative – but effective nonetheless. Kappa trackpants flare relentlessly, arriving in the deliciously appalling colour of ‘banana candy yellow’ and paired unconventionally with an oversized denim jacket. Fila turtlenecks arrive with matching corduroy blazers for when you have to ruffle-up a rival soccer hooligan before going to a job interview, while a full red Sergio Tachhini tracksuit is perfect for people who have been to jail for breaking someone’s kneecap with a crowbar.

Before your iPhone facilitated the Tinder dates, Uber rides and Instagram flicks of your Sunday brunch, the Motorola RAZR was your crucial communication device – and absolutely nothing felt cooler than flipping open your home screen to find your mother calling to yell at you for missing curfew.
After seeing shots of Rihanna with a pink RAZR as well as a blue one, RAZR Flip phone fans have been going crazy in the anticipation around the launch of Motorola’s new phone promised to be unveiled this Thursday at San Francisco’s World Tech Fair – “hello moto”! However Motorola has denied the rumours that the beloved RAZR will be re-released after a fake advert (that we’re loving) went viral.

Regardless, all this chat has stirred up some great 2004 memories of the prized flip phone that came in 14 different colours including the 2006 Dolce & Gabbana Gold edition. The RAZR was originally designed as an exclusive ‘fashion’ phone but after a year they dropped the price and sold over 130 Million units globally and became the most popular flip phone of all time!

Matching your clothes and flip phone has been an essential swag commandment since Killa Cam did it, and while Motorola have denied the rumours of the RAZR’s return, the story has picked up plenty of traction, so let’s hope that they make it a reality.
